Communication of transport system is the life- blood of a country's socioeconomic development. Bangladesh is a reverine country. So naturally the country has a good network of waterways. And in recent times the country's road communication has increased significantly . Communication includes both means of transportation and means of exchanging information of messages. Bangladesh has experienced quite dramatic expansion in these two fields over the last few years. The whole country is now under a good communication and transport system. Bangladesh is crisscrossed by many big and small rivers and their tributaries . There a good system of canals also. So waterways have always been a good and easy means of transporting people and goods in our country. In dry season, the length of total waterways decreases but in rainy deason, the country 's total water networks come to about 8,500 miles. Different kinds of water vehicles, both traditional and modern ply through our countryside all the year round. Boats, steamers, launches, berges, ferries , tankers, trawler and even small ships carry people and goods and keep economic activities functional. We have two sea- ports and many inland water ports in different transport of passengers and goods are done through these ports. We have also organization named BIWTA which monitors inland water transport.
Bangladesh has a good network of road communication . Many bridges and culverts have made road communication easier and uninterrupted . The Jamuna multipurpose bridges has opened up a new horizon in country 's communication system which has connected the east part of the country with northern part. A huge number of buses , trucks, pick-up, lorries, coaches, micro, coasters and private cars carry millions of passengers and tons of goods everyday throughout the country .In local and remote areas, traditional and mechanical both types of vehicles and transports means are available. The country 's total road communication system is about 2,800 km of railroads. Almost all the districts are connected by rail communication . A govt organization called BRTA operates and monitors road transport while Bangladesh railway operators rail communication across the country. Besides in every districts there are inter-district bus and truck transport system owned and run by private enterprises.
We have also good inland airways system . Through our international airway transport system is still very poor , Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates flights in 46 international destinations. The country has three international airports and seven other domestic airports. A good service is done in airways by Bangladesh Biman and three other private air companies like GMG.
A good , fast and safe communication and transport system is a must for a balanced and overall socio-economic developed of a country . Good communication and transport system speed up economic and commercial activities reduce transport cost of good and contribute to improved living standard . Govt of Bangladesh must concentrate on the development of a modern and fast communication and transports system and ensure its safely and smoothness.

Most of our roads are broken, rough, narrow and they hinder smooth and fast movement of passengers and goods. Besides lack of good monitoring causes many road accidents and claim lives and damages properties . Specially in major cities, the communication system is disrupted by traffic congestion and traffic mismanagement. We need to construct more roads and railway,bridges and culverts. Highway policing should be enforced, Robbery, over loading violation of traffic rules. Overtaking are regular phemonomean on our highway and road mishaps.
